From Prism to Prison?

Extending far beyond what was revealed by the recently infamous hacker Edward Snowden, the role of private companies has come under intense scrutiny since his disclosure that the NSA is collecting millions of US residents’ phone records and computer communications of foreigners from Google Inc and other Internet companies. Apparently thousands of technology, finance and manufacturing companies have been providing sensitive information in return for benefits that include access to classified intelligence - information that may be used not just to defend the nation but to help infiltrate computers of its adversaries. Snowden just revealed that the hacking operations were not limited to the US, but took place worldwide, including hundreds in China. While the NSA Prism program may land Snowden in prison, Larry Page, Google’s CEO, claims that he hadn’t heard of a program called Prism until after Snowden’s disclosures.
