Twitter is going through some changes. After recently reinstalling co-founder Jack Dorsey as the new and permanent CEO, the company introduces another attempt at innovating the social media arena. Twitter has unveiled a new feature called Moments. The new tool allows users to follow events in the form of a short story composed out of pictures, videos and different tweets.
Twitter Moments is actually a new form of following. When a user loges in to the social media platform he is able to see the hottest subjects online right now. When clicking on a Moment, the user gets the full experience of that event. This new feature is meant to make the user experience more appealing and potentially create user growth.
It seems the Twitter is trying to save itself from a continual decline. Is this the company swan song? The social media platform was founded in 2006 and shortly became a worldwide phenomenon. However, it remained stagnant for a long while and struggled to adjust to user demands. Many Twitter users abandoned the platform after a while, and in comparison to Facebook’s or Instagram’s user growth, it seems that the 140 character platform is on its way down - unless it undergoes some radical transformation that would appeal to broader audiences. Will the news Moments feature make any difference? That remains to be seen.
