Ever wonder what it’s like to work as one of Banc De Binary’s top analysts? Well, senior analyst, Joseph Feldman, is going to give you a sneak peak at what an average day for him is like. It’s anything but average!
08:00
I usually get into the office around eight o’clock. The first thing I always do is check my email. After I am all caught up I’ll look at the economic calendar (my favorite is Investing.com) so I know what is happening. Every Monday I put all the main events on my work calendar so I know what to expect for the week. I also invite the Account Managers so we can all be updated.
At some point during this I will make myself a tea. I actually haven’t had any coffee for a month. I was developing an almost unhealthy, dependent addiction. My friends and family almost had to stage an intervention! But, I’m proud to say that I’ve been clean one month now.
09:00
After I’m all caught up I will check for any breaking news that might impact trading. Politics and the markets are so intertwined, you always have to stay on top of the news!
09:30
Once I know what’s going with the markets I will brief all of the Account Managers. I’ve got to keep them up-to-date on the hottest news stories and markets events.
10:00
In the mornings I usually hold several Client Sessions, which is actually my favorite part of the job. During sessions I teach clients about fundamental and technical analysis, and coach them on trading. Not to get sentimental, but I really enjoy teaching.
What’s the point of being filled with all this knowledge if I’m not supposed to share it?!
12:00
Around mid-day I always make a little trip to see the Marketing Dept. I brief them about upcoming events so all departments are synchronized.
13:00 – Lunch
To be specific, I go to lunch at 12:55. I work in a big company with 200+ employees, as an analyst I need to decide when to do things at the best time.
14:00
After lunch and a cup of tea (remember no coffee!!) I’ll do some research. Unlike what I am looking for in the morning, in the afternoon I look for more long-term trends and investment research to give to Account Managers. In this time I could turn 30 pages into 3 pages.
15:00
Since we are 7 hours ahead of the US markets, I like to wait until mid-afternoon to brief the Account Managers on the US markets. I usually give three briefs a day. In the morning I brief them on Europe, the afternoon is the US, and then I will do a final brief before I leave about Australia.
16:00
I usually have some more client sessions in the afternoon. It’s always a good way to begin to wind down the day. They always seem to go so fast.
17:00
The evening is when I tend to give webinars. My most popular webinar is about Technical Analysis, I’ve even been told by someone that it is the, “best webinar ever” but don’t tell the other analysts!
18:00
Before I leave for the night I will brief the teams on the Australian Markets, and check the news one more time to make sure there is nothing that they should know about.
Life after work?
I usually run right to the gym, then run home in agony.
