The University Of Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index is a consumer confidence index published monthly by the University of Michigan. Each month at least 500 telephone interviews are conducted of a continental United States. Each monthly survey contains approximately 50 core questions, each of which tracks a different aspect of consumer attitudes and expectations in regards the general short term economy and own financial situation.
There are 2 versions of this data released 14 days apart – Preliminary and Revised. The Preliminary release is the earlier and thus tends to have the most impact.
