So, you may have read in the tabloids recently that movie stars and famous billionaires have been choosing Mnemba island as the “go-to” vacation spot. Bill Gates, Naomi Campbell, and Tom Cruise are just some of those we know about, but it is interesting to explore what it is about the mysterious location which makes it so ideal.
Here are 3 leads which may help us unravel the mystery behind this trend.
1) It’s Private - Psychologists hypothesize that the more dense a city’s population is, the more we begin to feel lost in the crowd. A stay in Mnemba means complete and utter privacy. The moment you step foot on the island, your soul fills up with meaning and happiness.
It’s like having a small patch of God’s earth in your pocket. No one is around for miles and miles, except you and your inner circle of loved ones (or friends).
2) The Weather and the Sea – The warm temperature of the sea, and the magical breeze give one an immediate sensation of elation. Meanwhile, the climate of the island is complemented by palm trees, coral reefs, and white sand.
If you’re a scuba fanatic, Mnemba is where you want to be. Given the extreme (and rare) diversity of the sea-life population circulating around the small island, certain measures have been taken to ensure things stay that way.
Incoming boats are obliged to turn off their motors a kilometer before arriving at the island, and paddle to shore. In this way, the wonderful fish-civilization will be preserved.
3) The Boutique Hotel – Bungalows, exquisite wood-carvings, and furniture made of hand-woven palm leaves, give the hotel a true “Robinson Crusoe” feel. Nonetheless, the wifi, and personalized service are on par with even the most expensive 5-star hotels of urban locations.
It is perhaps this contrast of old and new, rustic and modern, which give the hotel that dynamite feel which will have you begging for more. Just do a simple Google search to investigate what past visitors are saying.

Banc De Binary’s trading competition for a luxurious stay on Mnemba (for the winner and 3 friends) is only one week in. At this point, it’s still anyone’s game. Best of luck to all our traders, and have a fantastic weekend, wherever you are!
