Why people love trading Apple

cover

Several years after the death of Steve Jobs, investors and consumers alike have remained loyal to the Apple brand. When you multiply the amount of Apple shares available by the current price of a share, you get over $700 billion. This is known as a stock’s Market Capitalization, and Apple has the highest Market Cap in the world.

The video above goes into greater detail about just why Apple has been so successful in both its sales, and its ability to attract investors. It states, for example, that the new iPhones have already experienced phenomenal popularity in both the Western World, and in China, as well.

But, are these numbers misleading? Can we truly attribute the root causes of Apple’s huge Market Cap to its current sales? After all, there are many companies making much more revenue than Apple currently, with a much lower Market Cap.

In my humble opinion, Apple’s popularity amongst the trading world is much more due to sentiment. In particular, Apple’s marketing stunts over the years have engrained the company’s image in the minds of nations across the world.

Take Apple’s iTunes commercials, for example:

or, what about Apple’s commercial which was aired in the 1984 Super-Bowl? You can see the commercial below, and understand just how the Apple brand has pushed its way into the hearts of folks all across the globe.

CAD/JPY Update

Financial analysts have been concerned about the recent depreciation of the Japanese Yen. Analysts attribute the Yen’s weak performance to monetary policy by the Bank of Japan which has been attempting to re-stimulate the Japanese economy.

The Bank of Japan plans to print $29 billion of currency to create more purchasing power for the population.
