Microsoft Considering to Acquire Salesforce

News leaked this weak the Tech Giant Microsoft may be interested in making a bid for Salesforce, the rapidly growing CRM service making waves in the world of cloud computing.

In our rapidly changing world, companies in virtually every business are finding it crucial to gather their data into one system, and use that data to improve their services and businesses. Hence, the amazing success of 3 CRM (Customer Relationship Management) Systems: Salesforce, Workday, and NetSuite.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Salesforce hired two investment banks to evaluate the company’s value (external analysts estimate that Salesforce is worth around $49 billion).

Nonetheless, many voices in the tech world are confused at Microsoft’s interest. After all, Microsoft has its own unique CRM product, called “Dynamics CRM.” As Erika Morphy, writing for Forbes, put it: “It is difficult to imagine Nadella [Microsoft’s CEO] chucking the decade or more worth of investment the company has put into its Microsoft Dynamics CRM product.”

Alongside Microsoft, there are rumors circulating that Oracle CEO, Larry Ellison, is also interested in making a bid for Salesforce. Some say that Salesforce may prefer Oracle to Microsoft given that Marc Benioff [Salesforce CEO] worked for Oracle for decades before branching off, and building up his own company to what it is today.

Salesforce stock jumped 6% yesterday within minutes after the news of Microsoft’s interest was reported by Bloomberg. Likewise, there was a knock-on effect on other CRM companies, including, NetSuite, Workday, and ServiceNow.
